Brueggemann's Prophetic Imagination (which I love and rate extremely highly) was published in 1978, according to my edition - so I think it falls outside...

I also have my doubts about the fairness of including von Balthasar.

My I suggest that *Biblical Theology of the Old and New Testaments* by Brevard Childs be added to the list.

PS you've also not included my nominations, except the Milbank which was also nominated by others...

and for the record they were:
Denys Turner's "The Darkness of God" and Michael Buckley's "At the origin of modern atheism"

Sam, that was odd, since you were one of the very first to respond. I'll add them, thanks for reminding me. I'll also remove Brueggermann.

Maybe I missed something, but did we include Moltmann's Crucified God? Or was that published before 1980?

Patrik said...

Yes, Der gekreuzigte Gott was published in 1972.

Nothing by B16?

Check under "R".

Sittler’s Care of the Earth was originally published in 1964 so should probably be removed. Miroslav Wolf should, I think, be Volf.

Is it too late to suggest a couple of additions?

Dan Hardy and David Ford, Jubilate: Theology in Praise (1984)

David Ford, Self and Salvation: Being Transformed (1999)

Mine can be found here.

I'd also recommended Denys Turner (The Darkness of God) in a comment on an earlier post - which may not have been the correct place to do so.

And also Catherine Pickstock's After Writing. On the liturgical consumation of philosophy.

(Also Johnson's Truly our sister, but thats not too serious as I find She who is more important).

Oh, and the subtitle of Sarah Coakley's book is spirituality, philosophy and gender and not philosophy, gender and spirituality. I thought that it sounded strange and have just looked it up.

Patrik,

I'm so sorry. I thought I looked under B and R. My bad.

BTW, thanks for doing this. It ranks up there w/ Ben Myers's book meme.

All the best,

JK
